Cataract Treatment in India

A cataract is a type of eye surgery that removes the clouding in the lens present inside the human eyes. It can be caused by injury or ageing that causes loss of vision in human beings. A cataract is a sensitive surgery that needs a trained and experienced surgeon to perform it.

Causes of Cataract

The major causes of cataract surgery are as follows:

  • Ageing: This is one of the most common causes of cataracts. It generally begins at the age of 40 and slowly increases the natural lens opacity and reduces human vision.
  • Systemic diseases: These diseases include hypertension, diabetes mellitus, Hyperlipidemia and various other diseases that can accelerate cataracts. Hyperlipidemia tends to cause cataracts from a younger age.
  • Post-surgical Effects: Sometimes cataracts can happen post-eye surgeries such as glaucoma surgeries, retinal surgeries and laser surgeries.
  • Nutritional causes: This causes due to consumption of alcohol, smoking, malnutrition, and deficiency of vitamins and carotenoids.
  • Genetics: Cataracts may be caused due to genetics and run in the family. It is especially seen that genetic cataracts cause blue-dots cataracts.
